How cute they looked – all eighteen graduates – in their little blue graduation hats. The room was filled with parents and grandparents “snapping photos like crazy”. The students sang two songs and recited a verse. Awards were given and then special awards were given such as: having a happy heart, being an awesome prayer, being a good friend, having a kind heart, etc. At the very end the graduates wanted to sing “On Top of Spahetti” for the audience. All the graduates were given a helium filled fish balloon attached to a pail filled with sand and seashells. They were the cutest ever!
Our afterschool class decided to have a NO TV day. The following are just a few of the responses of what the students and their families did:

Lucas – read books with my mom.
David – I played with my brother and built a castle.
Noah – I played with my cars and my puppy.
Carolyne – I helped mommy bake cookies and we played together.
James – I drew letters and wrote my numbers.
Taylor – I went make believe shopping with my mom and dad.
Lauryn – I played and read with my family and cousins. As you can tell, everyone had a great time. Try a day with NO TV. You may really enjoy it!
Students in Pre-K to 5th Grade have enjoyed reading books in the library and also enjoyed reading together as a group. Pre-K 4 has been read to throughout this year, they especially enjoy the Big Books. One of their favorites was “If the Dinosaurs Came Back.” They loved thinking of the great things that dinosaurs would do if they lived among us now.
Several times during the year we had a Sharing Snack: each child brought a special snack to share with classmates. We munched on many yummy things! Our class was a fun place to be!
One of the best parts of May was Dinosaur week. Special events included a dinosaur egg hunt. Each egg had a small dinosaur inside. We painting giant dinosaurs with teammates. We made dinosaur hats by putting colorful dinosaurs on a visor, and made a book with different dinosaurs in it. We enjoyed two dinosaur treats: dinosaur chicken nuggets and fruit snacks.
During our trip to Flushing Meadow Park Queens Zoo, we were blessed with a sunny day. We fed the goats and sheep and let them lick pellets off our hands. We saw lots of animals at the big zoo, and learned that reindeer are really big! We sat on the grass and enjoyed a picnic lunch, and ended the day with a merry-go-round ride and ice cream.
We took a trip to Chuck E. Cheese and played games using tokens. We won tickets when we played the games and got prizes using the tickets. We climbed and ran around. We had a yummy pizza lunch and drink. Chuck E. Cheese himself dropped by to say hi. He high-fived everyone!
