Reading Braille

Second grade listened to the story of Helen Keller. They were very sympathetic and concerned about her condition. They have become so interested in this story and how she learned to read Braille that the following week we read a piece of the Louis Braille biography, they really enjoyed this also, we are going to try to write our names in some form of Braille, with glue dots. I am sure they will enjoy this activity.

Thankfulness

1C enjoyed listening to “The Squirrels Thanksgiving” a perfect story for this time of the year. It reminded us about being thankful even for those people in our lives that make it a little difficult. It was a great opportunity to talk to our first graders about being thankful for our friends and siblings even if they are not 100% nice to us all the time. They really liked this story.

Give Thanks

Finally, on Tuesday November 23 we had our thanksgiving feast. Everyone brought in different dishes and desserts. We all gave thanks for all the different things that God has blessed us with, and then enjoyed a delicious thanksgiving feast.

Spirit Week

The month of November was a busy and fun month. On the third week of November, we had our annual spirit week. Our kindergarten class had fun getting dressed up as pilgrims and Native Americans, as well as their favorite book characters. Even though, their favorite was pajama day, where everyone was nice and cozy with their PJs and slippers.

Jump Start Fun

Students are nearing the end of their introductory keyboarding unit. We have learned the eight home row keys and have begun to practice reaching other keys while staying in home row position. We will wrap up the unit by learning about the 10 key number pad. We’ve also been having fun in 3rd through 5th grade Jump Start and our various painting programs.

Road Trip!

The Gingerbread Man has kept in touch as he promised. He has been traveling all over the United States and sent us postcards of his journey. He is working his way back to Evangel. We have recorded his adventure on our map and can’t wait to see him again.

Know Christ

We are currently practicing our songs for the Christmas Program! Students are excited and some looking forward to singing a solo while others are looking forward to singing nice and loud within their class groups. It will be a fun time and a time of reflection pointing to what this holiday season is all about, and how it is displayed through the words they are singing. As someone once said,

No Christ, No Christmas! Know Christ, Know Christmas!
