Elementary School’s Christmas Program took place on Friday, December 12, 2008 – “Through the Eyes of the Friendly Beasts”. Third through fifth grade elective classes performed the drama, dance and chorus part of the program. Pre-school were dressed up as the world’s cutest angels. Kindergartners were the kings and brought gifts to Baby Jesus. First and second graders were shepherds out in the fields keeping watch over their flocks.
This program had us view the Christmas Story through the eyes of the animals that were present that Holy Night. The Sanctuary was filled with parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and many friends. Over 700 were in attendance.
Please check out “Galleries” to view some really cute pictures.
Kindergarten is exploring shapes. In our bridges curriculum we are sorting and classifying, and graphing shapes by their size, shape, color, sides corners, curved, and straight sides. Kindergarten is very excited to use these skills in their workplaces. K-V has also had the chance to sort and classify toy bugs, by their different physical attributes.

We are focusing on a book that reinforces the letter of the week. For the letter “L” we read “Library Lion.” They enjoyed the “Lion’s” loudest roar. For the letter “H” we read “Hurty Feelings.” The students closed their eyes throughout the whole story and imagined the pictures. At the end of the period the students got to look at the actual illustrations. They also took a small book home to color based on the letter of the week.

For the first weeks of Kindergarten KV has been busy getting to know each other and exploring their new classroom. These past weeks we have been establishing routines, exploring and sorting various shapes, learning about letters L, O, and G, and creating our first word LOG. Kindergarten is also very excited to be on the second floor and having their lunch in the school cafeteria for the first time as a class this year.
kv-grad-program-208 Twenty-four miniature graduates, dressed in blue gradaution gowns and graduation hats, walked down the aisle of the church sanctuary to “Pomp and Circumstance”. How adorable is that? There was a flash of camera lights as parents and friends went “crazy” over them. The graduates sang a song and recited all of the ten verses they heard learned. Wow, that was amazing! What a wonderful time we had. All the graduates were given an adorable stuffed graduation bear attached to a helium balloon. Now, they’re off to First Grade.
Finally, the time to say goodbye has come. Graduation is a very happy and exciting time for our Kindergarteners. It is a joy to see them moving up to First grade. Kindergarten students are excited to walk proudly with their cap and gowns for their friends and family to see. Congratulations KV for a wonderful year!
Every year we share in Kindergarten, the process of how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. Our students really enjoy coming every morning and seeing how the caterpillar grows, creates a cocoon and then turns into a beautiful butterfly. Once we observed this process, the butterflies were released outside to explore the world around them.
