Number Corner. We started counting by 2’s and Second Grade choose the theme “eyes ” to represent them on our Chart of 2’s. We all got to draw and decorate our own unique faces with two eyes and we made a chart counting by 2’s. This has become a part of our Number Corner wall as we count on by 2’s.

We are having a lot of fun in computer lab so far this year. The elementary students come in once a week and have started to learn how to use a computer. The students are excited when they come in and get to play their games based on their grade level. The games they play incorporate every subject they are learning in class, and turns it into a lot of fun. I look forward to having their excited and smiling faces enter the lab each week.

The students have been borrowing one book of their choosing and the second has been a biography. We have talked about biographies. They have been writing about what they are reading, about who they read and what they learned about that person. They have also been experimenting with writing their own biographies. We have had a great time in the library.

In September the Second grade really enjoyed making beetles for math class. The paper beetles were a way for the students to share about themselves and their families. For example, the dots represented their birthdays and the stripes represented how many people live in their home. They learned how to spell new words and in Science they discovered how to sort animals. Second Grade also enjoyed making predictions in the stories they were reading.
In our classroom we read many stories. A few of them we even acted out as a drama activity. The story that we preformed was Henry and Mudge. The students added comedy to their performance which made it quiet enjoyable.
In Math, the students creatively developed their very own word problems. In Science, they studied the life cycle of a plant. In Bible, we developed our characters in the Kingdom of God. They learned that it was important to help others, but most of all, how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
This year was full of creativity, hands-on learning, and the joy of self-discovery. With these tools packed safely away, the 2nd graders leave Evangel this summer with a pocket full of knowledge that they can take with them to the 3rd grade.
We also went to Green Meadows Farm where w say performances from different cultures and visited the petting area. They enjoyed learning about the Native American Indians and they absolutely loved all of the tricks that were performed.
The 2nd Grade class has experienced many fun activities this year. We went to see “Junie B. Jones at the Town Hall. Everyone had a great time and the students commented that the sow was hilarious and made them laugh.
