Character Traits
This month, each sixth grader chose a famous person (in any field) to research and gather biographical information with the goal of finding a consistent character trait displayed in the actions of this person. Many traits included hard work, courage, and determination, which are hopefully traits we will possess too.

Journey to Holland
Journey with us to the early 1940’s in Holland. You’ve just been invaded and taken over by Germany. Little by little, your basic rights, privacy, and pride are taken away. Eighth grade has begun this difficult yet inspiring road with the famous Ten Boom family.

U.S. vs Japan
How do U.S. junior high students compare with those in Japan? How do they spend their time compared to us? Using statistical data, eighth grade students made conclusions about each culture’s emphasis (or lack thereof) on studying, sports, entertainment, and rest.

D. L. Moody
D. L. Moody: an inspiration to us all. Students read a piece about his early life when he was running away from the Word of God. Don’t we all sometimes? But what an encouragement, to see God chase this boy and how He chases us because of His great love! Praise Him!

Word Pictures
How do you make something come alive? How do you create a picture in someone’s mind? Use imagery and figurative language! This month, seventh graders designed their own product and magazine advertisement using as many methods as they could to capture their audience.

Love
What is real love? What qualities would a friend show if he or she was really expressing love? What does 1 Corinthians 13 say about love? Sixth graders practiced their paragraph writing to express their opinion of what true love is.

Chronicles of Narnia-The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Our 5th through 12th grade students had the privalege of viewing the new movie, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” We were able to secure the entire theater exclusively for our students. We had a great time with snacks and viewing this new movie based upon C.S. Lewis’s books, “Chronicles of Narnia.” After we returned, students discussed the Christian Symbolism represented in the Bible! It was awesome!
Step Up Your Faith
January 3rd- January 7th
“Step up You Faith,” the theme for the week, encouraged students to go a step further in their walk with God. Middle School and High School students were challenged with speakers each day to take their faith to the next level. Our Elementary students looked at a different bible stories each day as well as completed crafts to encourage them to “step up their faith.” Our memory verse for the week was Luke 17:5-6
Colors
This year will be even more colorful, as we learn the names of colors in Spanish. We will continue to use articles and expand our Spanish nouns this new year, and throughout the month of January. Let us learn together!
