Lights! Camera! Action! Middle School students of ECS worked long and hard to not only entertain but also share the Gospel of Christ to Evangel Church attendees on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Featuring musical performances, dancers, testimonies, and scripture reading, the aim of the show was to please and please it did!
Highlights of the show included members of the school’s dance elective performing Hip-Hop to “Jump, Jump” and a lyrical piece to “God is Here.”
Music students wrote their own songs during music class this semester, and it was amazing to see these songs come to life!
One sixth grade students surprised his adoptive mother by sharing his testimony of being placed in a foster home and the process of being adopted. He expressed his gratitude to his Lord and Savior. God is awesome!
The Middle School student’s efforts showed and they did not disappoint! Check out the singers and dancers in action in our gallery!

In 8th grade we looked at the book of Esther a story of providence. We learned to view God as our provider, watchmen and protector. We also watched the movie One Night with a King. We had fun comparing the book with the movie.

In 7th grade we tackled the need for orderliness. In our young peoples culture there is a huge lack of structure. We stared with organizing our Environment then our time and finally our relationships. A little order goes a long way.

In My 6th Grade class we have been talking about spiritual warfare, our enemy the devil and overcoming temptation. The 6th grade class has been really receptive and intrigued by the topic.

Students are finishing up the year with Astronomy! We will do a brief examination of the solar system and all the planets; pointing out the differences between the inner and outer planets and classifying them by their descriptions. The students are glad to finish on such an interesting topic and I’m excited to see what neat discussions come with all their fascination!

Students are finishing up the year learning how to be healthy! We have exhausted the human body by learning all about how it works and what disease can do to it, so now we need to learn how to keep our bodies healthy. We will be viewing “Supersize Me” as well as watching our diets and testing the caloric intake to see how we stack up to the nutritional guidelines.

Students are finishing up the year learning about forces and motion. We have several exciting activities for this unit such as finding speed by testing the time it takes for different types of balls to travel a distance of 10 km and creating parachutes to test air resistance. Never a dull moment when it comes to gravity!

April was a busy month in the computer lab. One of the highlights was when the students were able to participate in Administrators Professional Day. Middle School and High School students made cards using Microsoft Publisher and later were presented to the staff. The students expressed their gratitude to these hard working individuals and used the computer lab to make these memories.

7th grade recently watched a video for Bible class called “How Great Is Our God Tour”. This video showed the students how amazing our God is through the universe but above all through our own bodies. We also learned that none of us were a mistake, but predestined and thought about before the foundations of the earth! Learning how special we all are in our Father’s eyes went hand in hand with our lesson on Confidence. Our confidence comes through Him alone, always being reminded that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
