World War I was called “the war to end all wars.” However, students learned this was the opposite. Students studied the causes of World War I, the causes that led America into World War I, and the American reaction at home over War World I. Students created poems and propaganda posters to illustrate their personal reaction to War World I.

Students spent time learning about the new American nation that was led by President George Washington. Students studied the emergence of political parties, as well as controversies within the new nation, such as the creating of the first national bank.

The greatest force to ever sweep across the globe was Christianity. Students spent time studying the persecution of Christians by Emperor Nero, how Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire, and how Martin Luther led the Protestant Reformation in 1517.

Students learned that God is not merely concerned about our actions, but also our hearts. Students spent time discussing how they can better seek the Lord at home, at school, at church, and in their free time. If they yield their hearts to the Lord daily, God will give them the help to grow and obey.

After researching their country of origin for International Week at Evangel, the students presented interesting facts about their country. The students were very excited to find out new things about their heritage. The presentations went very well.

We have just finished studying multiple meaning words. The students came up with many words that are spelled the same way but have different meanings. Some of the words they used were: train, bat, date, nail, and pound.
