We are learning about living things, their characteristics, and the many ways to tell the difference between living and non-living things. Also class 7W had a fun time at our pizza party on Tuesday, October 7th. Thanks parents!

PEMDAS- If you don’t know what this stands for, 7th graders have been learning this concept. (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction) Students are given an equation and have been working on solving the problem by applying PEMDAS, which is really, “Order of Operations.” Because some of the symbols are new to students, it has taken a little time to get the hang of it. As the students have learned the symbols, they have become more proficient.

In math class we have been working on dividing and multiplying numbers with decimals. At first, it was a bit confusing, especially with the multiplication decimal placement, but students seem to be getting the hang of it. The students seem to really be grasping the concept and will be taking a chapter test next week.

Evangel will be publishing a newspaper for the middle school and the high school this year! Students have been brainstorming on titles and slogans and have come up with some pretty interesting options. I can’t wait to see what they will settle on! We hope to have our first issue out by the end of October! Please pick up a copy and see what’s going on in Evangel!

Greetings from teh Middle School and High School Resource Room! The year has started out with a great sense of expectation. Because of last year’s success many students are looking forward to a better year. Students are beginning the year with great attitudes and a healthy desire to work hard in order to achieve higher goals. We are setting the groundwork for success first through prayer and second by covering the “10 easy steps” taught in the booklet “How to get Good Grades” by Linda O’Brien.

-My homeroom class is the class I have been able to bond with the most so far. They are a great group of students. It is neat to see how much they have grown in the past few weeks. They are starting to figure out what middle school is all about unlike the first week where they just looked lost and confused. Each day with all of my students is a challenge and I think that is what makes teaching so exciting. You never stop learning and growing.

-I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I moved to NYC a month after I graduated high school to work in a church on the lower east side of Manhattan with my family. I went to college at Manhattanville, got married at the age of 20 and I now have two beautiful children. Eliana is three and Marcus is 4 months. My husband and I are youth pastors and I am the music minister at Trinity Community Church. I love being here and continue to seek God’s will in my life.
