Learning the guitar

The 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Music classes are not only progressing in tuning their guitar, but are also improving in switching from one chord to another. As they learn these techniques, which get easier with consistent practice, they are also slowly playing through songs. The songs we have been focusing on include: Forever, by Chris Tomlin; As The Deer; Your Grace Is Enough; and You Are My All In All. Check it out at WorshipArchive.com!

Extra work pays off

Students worked really hard with partners on the salsa routines that middle school preformed. They even stayed afterschool to work on it and practice. They did a fantastic job.

Extra Work

The students worked hard learning different types of dances with partners. The song they danced to was God is Good. It was a little challenging as it used hip hop with salsa moves, but they learned it. The students practiced during lunch time and during their gym time.

Friction and Resistance

It’s the month of May and only 1 month of school left. We have been learning about friction and resistance. The students were challenged with having to stop a toy with wheels from going down a steep ramp without hitting the ground. A few groups were successful in stopping their wheeled toys from reaching the final mark.

Waves

Waves are very interesting items to learn about. Tsunamis, rip waves, and regular currents are going to be the lessons for this month. Wavelengths and periods are very interesting to learn about during 6th grade.

Reproduction

Meiosis and fertilization are very important in human reproduction. We learned different forms of asexual reproduction such as budding. We also learned what chromosomes are and where they are located in the cell in every human body.

H2SO4

That’s not water! That’s H2SO4! Oh you don’t know what that is? That is an acid called Sulfuric Acid. Acids and bases are important when you want to know if something could be harmful or helpful. Stomache aches are helped with a basic solution called Milk of Magnesia.

Water, water, everywhere!

What are the phases of water? How does water change from one state to another? Ask a sixth grader any of these questions and they will be able to answer these questions and more.

Final Lesson

Students finished our study of the book of Revelation by looking at the result of God’s faithful people and the reward of eternity with Him in heaven. This was the final lesson and wraped up the whole year. It gave the students the – if you follow the lessons taught this year this is your reward lesson. As we moved into June we began our study guides for the final. This was a busy time for the students as they were preparing for other finals as well.
