Working with the color wheel

Each middle school student created a complementary color geometric study – that is, they used opposite colors and straight-line only shapes, experimenting with the many tints and shades of red and green, which are opposite colors on the color wheel. They also prepared for the Christmas season by making homemade, decorated Christmas cards out of construction paper, miniature templates, markers and glitter.

Wonderful Joy

Our Middle School students shined as they presented “Wonerful Joy.”  Students worked hard on beautiful poems that displayed the true meaning of Christmas.  They shared songs, dances, writings and dramas that demonstrated the wonderful joy that was given to us through Jesus Christ.  Every part of the production was meaningful and really gave the audience a new presepective on what “Wonderful Joy” really means.

Please see Galleries for some awesome pics.

Bible Characters

This Month we discussed biblical characters like Esther and Mordecai and how Esther was able to rise in the midst of social injustice to save her people. At the end of the month the 8th graders were assigned a class project where they needed to pick a biblical character and research the life and put it on a story board to present to the class. We had many talented presentations including ones on Samson, Jesus, Daniel, and Noah.

Comparisons

The students in 8th – 10th grade have been going through a series of program comparisons. First we compared MS paint and Pixie. We then compared word processing programs. Next we are comparing publishing design programs. These activities have been great for promoting a critical approach to computing!

Spirit Week

I was impressed with how many students in both elementary and middle school entered a drawing, painting or collage of our school mascot, the eagle, in the first ever Spirit Week art contest here at Evangel. Thanks for participating, guys!

Middle School

6th grade made a monochrome study and then re-created that drawing with paint, using black for shade and white for tint. All middle school students learned many technical artistic terms and can mix almost every single color imaginable from the three basic primary colors! 7th Grade broadened their repertoire by creating custom-made ink, oil pastel and chalk drawings, while 8th graders posed for each other for gesture and contour drawings.

December

December is a magnificent month as we reflect on the coming of our precious savior. This month we encouraged students to not only keep this a No NC Zone but also a to create a Mutual Respect Zone in which students not only refrain from saying anything hurtful or disrespectful about others but also make a point of blessing those around them. Many created a 3-dimensional star on which they wrote a reflective statement about a gift that God has given to them that and how they can use that gift to bless others Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Entrepreneurs

Students presented their own business or invention. The students presented technology inventions to help students with homework. They also came up with baking, dog training, and fashion businesses. Students then presented their business/invention as an advertisement for a commercial.
