These students are very motivated in class. They have shown me that they can do whatever I give them. They were given a practice regents test and they all did very well on the listening and comprehension part of the test.

Students finished their work on Linear Systems by learning to multiply the system by a number, which then allowed them to eliminate a variable and solve. Students also worked on a study guide, which helped prepare them for their Finals.
Mrs. Racoma
Students worked this month on Linear Systems. They had to learn how to eliminate variables in order to solve the problem. They also learned how to substitute part of their answer back into an equation in order to complete the Linear System.

We discussed radicals [mathematical, not political], midpoint and distance [how to meet half way in Manhattan]. We are finishing our probability unit – we are looking at the likelihood of the Magic beating the Lakers, and the Penguins beating the Red Wings. We can tell you your odds of drawing a face card, or rolling doubles to get out of jail; and we finally figured out how many different outfit combinations we really have in our closets!

In Global class we just finished our last unit on Communist China. This has been an interesting unit to discuss because it allows us to compare and contrast our own economical system to theirs. Having been to China I was able to discuss how China has evolved over the past sixty years politically and economically. The students wrote their own biographical account as if they lived in China during this time period and how it affected them personally. In upcoming weeks we will begin to review as the years comes to a close.

Students have just finished their experiment with different Spanish foods. They had to make the food and tell us why they chose that certain food. Students were critiqued by their fellow classmates so they would know if they enjoyed the food the student picked.

This is the 1st year that we have decided to incorporate soccer into the high school P.E. curriculum. Students are more enthusiastic and excited to play this sport not because they are experts at it, but quite the opposite. They are all novices. Those students who excelled at team handball, volleyball, and basketball are now trying to adjust to feet-eye coordination instead of hand-eye coordination. They welcome this new facet of the game and enjoy improving themselves.

April was a busy month in the computer lab. One of the highlights was when the students were able to participate in Administrators Professional Day. Middle School and High School students made cards using Microsoft Publisher and later were presented to the staff. The students expressed their gratitude to these hard working individuals and used the computer lab to make these memories.
