Mirror Image
In Math we are taking about Symmetry. We decorated our class room door with flowers on construction paper and paint. We folded the paper and discovered the other side was a mirror Image. We are very proud of our work! This activity also showed us shapes and how we view them in our everyday life.

Joseph
The students are taking off with the wonderful story of Joseph We picked up the story from the beginning of his life and went through his life to see how God brought him through every situation, including his brother trading him into slavery. God gave him wisdom beyond his years and brought him back to his family again.

Have a great summer
As the end of school nears we get teary eyed reflecting on the accomplishments of many of our students – especially when making out the end of the year awards we’re glad to see so much progress in so many ways. [They] can do all things through Christ who strengthens [them] Phil 4:13. We hope that you find the last Food for Thought Quotation that we shared with the students meaningful: An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest
It’s the final stretch!
The end of the year finds the Resource Room very busy as students finish all their unfinished work, refresh their study skills, do preps for tests, and work on review sheets. Diligence is finally taking over for some of the students. Many have improved in study habits and the self-managing skills that will make test taking go a little smoother.
International Students
Our International Students have added so much to the class’s exposure to different cultures and the challenges of improving conversational English skills. Some of our students even tried to learn some words and phrases in Chinese, Korean and Tagalong. The international students have become more involved with computer assisted instruction language skill building activities, which they seemed to enjoy. They also improved their pronunciation skills, vocabulary and increased their knowledge about the United States.
Poetry
Students were able to create poetry for National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day. Their poetry was insightful, humorous, beautiful, and thought provoking. Their work printed on cheerful spring colored paper adorned our decorated classroom door. Some of the students wrote:

Middle School Graduation
On Saturday, June 19, we graduated 4 8th graders. The students looked awesome….the boys in maroon gowns and the girls in gold. There was much excitement in the air. The 8th grade Representative, John Nolan-Tobias lit the class candle and began the ceremony. Our Salutatorian, Samantha Vasquez, and our Valedictorian, Natalie Barbosa, both gave incredible speeches, spurring their classmates on and encouraging them to “stay the course:. They spoke of fun times at Evangel and thanked many people. There speeches were inspiring and ended with always remembering to keep God first. Isabel Rosario, our dance teacher, danced to Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You”. This song was chosen to encourage to look to the Lord no matter what may come their way. Many awards were given out and then Diplomas and Bibles were given. Mr. Marko spoke about spending 7 minutes with God, learning to work hard, and putting God first. The Class Rep. then lit a candle symbolizing a new beginning and the recessional began. We love you!!!!
An awesome time was had by all who attended. See you guys in September.

“Stepping Up” to Middle School
Fifth grade students walked down the aisle with a rose in hand to give to their parents who were waiting for them in the front of the sanctuary. Honor Cords were worn by National Elementary Society Members and also by NEHS Officers. Students received their diplomas and a beautiful Bible from the school. The students recited verses and sang two awesome songs. Mrs. Gepte, the class aide, made a beautiful video of the class and tat was shown during the ceremony. It was a wonderful day and a ceremony to be remembered. We are so excited for all of our 5th graders that will now be movingon to our Middle School Department. See you in September.
