In Earth Science we are learning all about Minerals and Rocks, from how minerals form, to how to identify them by testing for streaks, density, hardness and looking at the structure for cleavage and fractures. Students are fascinated!! It’s awesome to explore the world that our God has created.

MLHS Tournament
This previous Saturday the Lady Eagles Girls Varsity Volleyball team participated in a tournament held at Martin Luther High School. The Lady Eagles entered this tournament with high expectations and would settle for nothing but the best. In a series of short scrimmages the Eagles came out first in their pool. They then played a challenging match against the second place team of pool number 2. By playing as a team and working together the Lady Eagles won the match and moved on to the championship. The championship game was played against the host of the tournament themselves, Martin Luther High School , this game was the best game of the day by far, with both teams giving it only their best. With great serves by Amanda Pabon, beautiful spikes by Karas Bonifas and Amanda Roque, great sets by Jennifer Herrera and Natalia Alverez, and awesome passes by the whole team, the Lady Eagles came out victorious as the CHAMPIONS!!!!!!! Special awards given out were:
All Conference: Amanda Roque, Amanda Pabon, and Jennifer Herrera
MVP: Becky Wong

Fall greetings from the Middle School and High School Resource Room! This year we are blessed to have Mrs. Cathy Hampton join our team. She has wonderfully stepped in to help as Evangel’s Resource Center has grown. She is a special asset in assisting the international students in all classes.
As the year started students came with a great sense of expectation, positive attitudes and high goals. In Resource we are setting the groundwork for success first through prayer and second by covering the Building Blocks to School success. This includes but isn’t limited to study skills (SQ3R), reading skills (finding the main idea), Learning Styles Assessments (visual, tactile, auditory), how to take good notes and how to read the textbooks effectively.
It is a blessing to have students from all over the world at Evangel. Our international students represent interesting and varied countries of the world such as China, Indonesia, Korea, Peru, Philippines, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Viet Nam, and many more. Locating their home countries on our classroom map, gave all of the students a chance to discuss the distance to the United States. Becoming familiar with American Idioms has been challenging but it helps with both their conversation and written English skill building. As they discuss their assignments, we might say that some of the answers “are on the tip of your tongue” as a way to practice the use of idioms in conversation. There are many new things to teach and learn for everyone.

Prek-3 has been doing a phenomenal job, considering the fact that they have completed only one month of school. We have been focusing on the letter A, color red, numbers zero and one, and the circle. This month has been a very crafty, hands-on month and we have also been learning all about God’s Creation. We have done sensory A’s using small alphabet sprinkles to trace the capital letter A. We have done apple prints to reinforce both the color red and the fact that God created food for us to eat. We have also made apple peanut butter smiles, Oh were they yummy. The children loved them so much that they wanted to eat more and more. They even wanted their mommies and daddies to make some. Overall we have kicked off the New School Year with a bright, creative, and fun start. I look forward to next month where we will focus on learning the letter B, continuing the circle, numbers zero, one, and two, the color gray, and the story of David and Goliath.

7th grade this year will be taking a quest in search of character. Too many young people and adults lack the character that Christ desires to see in us. We are going to learn the importance of Godly Character and how we can best display that. On top of that we will be discussing creation, the fall and salvation.
Mr. Lopez
This year is a special year in 6th grade Bible. We will be discussing and learning how we can run the best race possible. We will be learning different spiritual training regiments, how to listen to our coach and the importance of endurance. On top of that we will be discussing creation, the fall and salvation.

The Juniors are working hard in Math. Our goal is the Math B Regents in June. We have been working very hard at graphing functions with and without a calculator.
