Middle School 6th graders will be working on Valentines Day cards and 7th graders will be working on “Love Is” paintings. Eighth grade is working on paper mache vases and picture frames that will be painted in the traditional Valentines colors. Students will be reminded that the greatest act of love took place on the cross.

“Our success has not been a continual series of victories. We have had a number of devastating setbacks; how these are handled is the making of a great team… winning does not happen in straight lines.” – Clive WoodwardEarly on in our season, the Lady Eagles have had a number of setbacks. Defeats which if pushed aside and not dealt with could have impacted the outcome of our season. After every game we examine what we did right as well as what areas need to be improved. These defeats allowed us to examine our structure and as a result, drastic changes came about. One major change was the implementation of an entirely new offense. It was through these defeats that have helped to shape and mold us into the “team” we are today.
Our Lady Eagles are currently 8-2, with only 2 games left in the regular season.
We have our eyes fix on the prize and are anxiously awaiting playoffs.

Class 4-L is reading biographies, which is the theme for their academic fair. I am excited to see the wonderful array of characters that they are studying. They are having a wonderful time and I love to see how they enjoy reading.
Mrs. Ruiz

Third grade is continuing to enjoy their time in the library. For the month of January they are borrowing Geography books that deal with their academic fair projects. They are borrowing books on different countries since their projects are on a country study. They can still borrow one book of their own special interest.

In library, Pk-4 enjoys when I read a book to them that is correlated with their letter of the week. This week for the letter Q we read the book, “The Quilt Story” by Tony Johnston. They enjoyed reading about the love that the character had for her quilt that her mom made for her. After the story they had the opportunity to color their own quilts. We had some wonderful creations.
Mrs. Ruiz

Pk-3 has continued to enjoy picture books that I read to them every week. After I read to them and we discuss the story they color a picture that is related to the book we read. Then they get the chance to look or “read” books on their own. They have especially enjoyed reading “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.” After we read the book I shared some cookies with them, they were very pleased to say the least.

World Civ. – Global imperialism has begun; Europe has staked her claims in the four corners of the globe, and cultures are spreading and mixing and evolving into the roots of who we are today.
Mr. Prawel

Jesus has ascended, the Holy Spirit has come down, and the disciples have gone out! We are in the midst of the book of Acts – we are tracing the beginning of a small group that will eventually grow into one of the world’s largest religions.

We discussed our national security and the different avenues of foreign policy; the world is much more complicated today due to technology and global interdependence.
Mr. Prawel

We have turned the century into the 1900’s! We are quickly bearing down on the present as we discussed Progressive reforms that still impact us today; some things like direct election of our senators and many municipal reforms. WWI is upon us and our world dominance is being tested as Germany continues unrestricted submarine warfare…
