It is said that when he was a missionary in Ireland, St Patrick was challenged by the pagans to explain the concept of the Trinity. As a former slave-shepherd in that same country, he did the unexpected — he reached down and plucked a shamrock leaf. Standing back up, he then asked: “Is this one leaf, or three? If one leaf, then why are there three lobes of equal size? If three leaves, then why is there just one stem? If you cannot explain so simple a mystery as the shamrock, how can you hope to understand one so profound as the Holy Trinity?” (Rose Publishing, The Trinity)
And that, according to the story, is how the shamrock leaf became the symbol of Christian Ireland.

Evangel Christian School, ECS, is a nonprofit, diverse school for students in Pre-k through High School, with 550+ students in attendance. Founded in 1985, ECS is committed to the education of the whole person. It serves students who strive for academic, moral and spiritual excellence. These goals must be supported and encouraged by the home working closely with the school.
In May 1987 Evangel Christian School was chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, receiving an Absolute Charter in 1997. The Absolute Charter was amended in 2003 to include Grades 9 through 12.
Evangel Christian School embraces students from every ethnic background, making our school environment rich in culture and language. More than 73 nationalities are represented in our student body.
