Resource Room I really want to keep my students on task and not loose momentum, however, in some cases we have to start rebuilding momentum. In the aftermath of Academic Fair the classes evaluated how they did by going through each rubric and comparing what are the differences in the requirements for a “D”, “C”, and an ”A” research paper. A hindsight view of “what’s it all about” will also be explored by evaluation.

The United States owes a great deal to the country of England. Students learned the history of England and the British Isle. All students selected a specific event from England’s history and completed a project over it. Projects included posters about the Great Fire of London and the Plague, newspaper articles about the Puritans and Separatist, and songs depicting the brutality of World War II.

There is little doubt that all have committed the sin of covetousness. Students in 6th grade learned about why the sin of covetousness (or jealousy) was wrong, and how this sin could hurt their relationship with other people.

As the year ended, the students in computer lab mastered one last part of technology. The students learned how to use Microsoft Publisher 2007. Microsoft Publisher is a program where you can make greeting cards, signs, and more. Some of the middle school students even got the privilege of making cards for their mom’s to celebrate mothers day last month.

We’ve completed the reading of the novel, Old Yeller, by Fred Gipson. This story takes place in the mid-west during the late 1800’s. It’s a classic story of a boy and his dog. Travis, the main character, must take on much responsibility while his dad is away. He learns about the joys and sorrows of life. Students participated in class discussions and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as we learned about responsibility ad companionship.
ENGLISH: During this month, students read several articles about the controversial issue of school uniforms. Then, students brainstormed the pros and cons of this issue. Next, they wrote a rough draft essay using a step-by-step packet. Students implemented quotations from the articles to support their stance on the issue. Finally, after I read over their rough drafts, they wrote a final, persuasive, 5-paragraph essay with three reasons supporting their thesis. This exercise was very beneficial to students and help them to realize the importance of uniforms.

Students reviewed work that they have had this entire year. They completed a workbook packet that gave them a review of what they accomplished in 6th grade math. Students also worked on a study guide, which helped prepare them for their Finals.
Mrs. Racoma
Students worked hard learning about angles, shapes and triangles. They learned that a line is supplementary and it is 180°. Students also leaned that a triangle is the same degrees as a line and that a circle is 360°. It has been a challenge but it has been a great end of the year chapter.

This month we talked about conformity to Christ and not the world. Standing up for Christ and not simply blending in. We also started looking at the sacrifice of Christ. When you realize how much God gave, you are compelled to surrender your life to His unfailing love.
Mr. Lopez
This month we learned about the family unit in Spanish class. The students learned the titles of every member. We made a family tree and labeled each person and also learned how to say I have (yo tengo) and you have (Tu tienes), to help in our conversational Spanish.
