Girls Varsity Volleyball
I’ve worked too hard and too long to let anything stand in the way of my goals. I will not let my teammates down and I will not let myself down. –Mia Hamm
For some, volleyball is just something that is played to pass the time by, for others it’s just a sport, but for the Lady Eagles it’s a life style. From day one, we knew that in order to accomplish our goals we would have to work harder and push ourselves further than we had any other year. Each and every practice our girls strove to be better than the day before. Their determination to become better volleyball players not only affected the way they practiced and played, but challenged everyone to step up their game. As a result our girls have had one of the best seasons ever.

MLHS Tournament
This previous Saturday the Lady Eagles Girls Varsity Volleyball team participated in a tournament held at Martin Luther High School. The Lady Eagles entered this tournament with high expectations and would settle for nothing but the best. In a series of short scrimmages the Eagles came out first in their pool. They then played a challenging match against the second place team of pool number 2. By playing as a team and working together the Lady Eagles won the match and moved on to the championship. The championship game was played against the host of the tournament themselves, Martin Luther High School , this game was the best game of the day by far, with both teams giving it only their best. With great serves by Amanda Pabon, beautiful spikes by Karas Bonifas and Amanda Roque, great sets by Jennifer Herrera and Natalia Alverez, and awesome passes by the whole team, the Lady Eagles came out victorious as the CHAMPIONS!!!!!!! Special awards given out were:
All Conference: Amanda Roque, Amanda Pabon, and Jennifer Herrera
MVP: Becky Wong

I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion by Mia Hamm. After an intense and exciting year, members of our sports teams came together to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on all the, “funny” moments they had throughout the year. We started off our night with lots of laughter, watching slideshows of the athletes when they were younger. After laughing at each other’s baby pictures, we opened up the microphone to anyone that had a funny story about the team; needless to say many took this opportunity. Muhammad Ali once said, “Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them — a desire, a dream, a vision.” Our athletes have something that many others lack and that is a genuine passion and love for the game. They play not because of the recognition that it brings, but because it is an extension and expression of whom they are. I thank God for my Athletes and all that they have taught me. They could not have made my first year as Athletics Director any better then it already was.

“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but it they don’t play together, the club wont be worth a dime.” -Babe RuthWe have been blessed this year with an amazing group of young ladies. These ladies are not only talented, but they have turned this team into a family. A “Family” that has had their first ever Undefeated Regular Season, finishing the regular season 6-0. Overall our Lady Eagles took second place in their League.
