GEOMETRY IN ACTION
The sophomores have explored dilations using perspective drawings. They also practiced paper folding by making origami ornaments for Christmas. This was a very interesting class and a great lesson in reading directions and interpreting diagrams.

Christmas Program
December has been a month full of exciting activities. Kindergarten did a wonderful job singing in their Christmas Program, and we were excited to see all the families that came to show their support. It was a blessing to see students celebrating the true meaning of Christmas, which is Jesus Christ! Kindergarten also had fun creating their very own Ginger Bread houses. This has become an annual kindergarten tradition, and they all made spectacular and yummy houses to share with their families.

Gift Boxes
Students worked on painting paper mache gift boxes for that special someone. That special someone can be a good friend, a teacher, parents or other relatives. Students used various colors of tempera paint to paint their boxes and some also added beads, glitter, paper and ribbons. This craft is perfect for small gifts such as jewelry and other keepsakes.

Masquerade Ball
Students painted and decorated their own paper mache masquerade mask using tempera, acrylic, neon and metallic paints. They also had the choice of accenting them with feathers, beads, glitter and flowers.

Bible Class
Our discussions in Bible have increased greatly as we have begun to look at those that have been persecuted for the cause of Christ. Students have been amazed at how many people before them have died for their stance in Christ. A light bulb has finally gone off for a lot of them, as they see how they are so blessed to be in a Christian school where they are not persecuted on a daily basis. While we have many fun things that happen in class, moments of discussion where you see a student finally realize the significance of why we were placed here on earth, it is worth all the months of teaching.

Music Class
Students are continuing to learn the guitar. Throughout this month students will be learning three more songs. They really like coming in and playing each week. It is challenging for many of them but they seem to really be picking it up. Some have even started looking at songs they know and realize they can now play those songs on the guitar because of the chords they have learned so far. I really enjoy seeing their faces as they discover that in a few short months they have learned enough to begin playing real songs.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Students are learning about rhythm and expression this month. Students have been dancing and moving to the various rhythms they are learning. One of the favorites was in fourth and fifth grade where they danced and sang “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. They really enjoyed it and had the freedom to make up their own dance as long as it matched the rhythm. Third grade got to learn rhythm through the use of tennis balls. They had a great time seeing how every beat in each measure could be demonstrated through the use of the tennis ball. Some had a hard time controlling the tennis ball at first but they really got the hang of it. The students are having a great time learning how music can be expressed through dance, movement and the use of instruments.
