We are becoming so independent and responsible. The children are working so hard to earn our monthly “Be Prepared and “Homework” awards. Our main focus is always doing our best for Jesus.

We are so proud with all the creative writers we have in 1c. We are writing ten sentences each week and are so excited to share them in class.

We just finished a story called Stone Fox. The story was full of unexpected events and the students were on the “edge of their seats” wating to read more. They didn’t want to stop reading when class was over. We are loving reading and “opening up” our imaginations.

We just finished a story called Max Malone. It was about Gordy, Max and their friend, Austin who wanted to get autographs from a famous baseball player, Dusty Fields. When Austin couldn’t go to get the autograph because he was recovering from surgery, Max and Gordy showed true friendship. They bought Austin a ball and had it signed. We learned how true friends treat each other.Mrs. Bienemann

We have been studying sight words. As the children are able to recognize more sight words they are able to read more. We have learned a total of 30 words now and everyone is doing well. The children are very eager to stand up and read words. They are becoming more and more confident reading out loud. 2nd Graders, keep reading.Mrs. Bienemann

We are learning about the “real” Christmas story. Jesus came to earth and was born as a baby, just for us! We are memorizing Luke 2:1, “Today in the TOwn of David a Saniour has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord.”

Songs are  a part of our every day schedule in Pre K-4. Some of our favorites are: 5 Little Speckled Frogs, 5 Little monkeys, Teasing Mr. Alligator (because Mr. Alligator likes to nibble the little monkeys’ ears), and Jesus We Crown You With Praise. We love to sing silly songs and we love to praise the Lord!

Elementary School’s Christmas Program took place on Friday, December 12, 2008 – “Through the Eyes of the Friendly Beasts”. Third through fifth grade elective classes performed the drama, dance and chorus part of the program. Pre-school were dressed up as the world’s cutest angels. Kindergartners were the kings and brought gifts to Baby Jesus. First and second graders were shepherds out in the fields keeping watch over their flocks.

This program had us view the Christmas Story through the eyes of the animals that were present that Holy Night. The Sanctuary was filled with parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and many friends. Over 700 were in attendance.

Please check out “Galleries” to view some really cute pictures.

We are so excited about our very first auctions. We had so much fun as Mr. Marko auctioned of many wonderful items. One parent shared this with Mrs. Marko, “I had so much fun.” We auctioned gift baskets full of books, visits to the spa, children’s videos, baked goodies and much more. We even auctioned a bike, a scooter, tickets to Sight and Dound, and meals for two and various restaurants.

We raised over $3,700.00 to purchase projectors for our classrooms. A special thank you to Mrs. Heather Cortes for all of her hard work in organizing this event. Thank you to all of our parents for buying their Christmas gifts a the auction. We are looking forward to the second half of our auction on Wednesday Night, December 17th.

A special Thank You to the local businesses, corporations, families and friends listed below. We encourage you to patronize these businesses supporting them for their commitment to education and to Evangel Students!
