Travel With Us
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 6:9
December has flown by!
We have learned much about the geography, history, and culture of Spain, Argentina, & Bolivia, while journeying through Castilla and Leon with the honorable legendary knight, El CID of Vivar.
This year we begin our journey into the country of Bolivia, while venturing into the adventures of Lazarillo de Tormes, a young orphan who tries to find life outside of his slave hood in Spain.

We have traveled and learned about Argentina, as well as their passion for the sport of soccer, the art of playwriting, and the art of the flamenco dance. This new year, we will learn about the differences between living in the country versus living in the city, and it’s interesting to observe how many would prefer living the country and vice versa. Journey with us as our Spanish vocabulary increases to greater heights. I encourage you, if possible, to continue to speak Spanish with your child(ren), as this will enable learning all throughout.

After having traveled via train through Chapter 1, we now rest in Chapter 2. This New Year, we will learn to ask for a menu and identify parts of a restaurant. Eat and learn with us. We shall continue learning how to conjugate verbs using the past preterit tense.

Three Kings Day
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 6:9
December is flying by!
This month we had revisited Ser & Estar (to be or to be… that is the question!); coinciding with stem-changing verbs & vocabulary on Sports.
As we journey through Spanish culture, it’s rather interesting how Three Kings Day happens to be celebrated across many Spanish-speaking countries.
After having created a personalized Gratitude Presentation last month, this month students will be asked to create their views on this special holiday, rarely visible in our country. For many, the celebration of God’s gift does not end on Dec. 25th, but goes beyond the New Year.
Let us learn together!

In honor of Evangel Christian School’s 25th Anniversary we received a beautiful letter from our local Councilman Mr. Jimmy Van Bramer congratulating us for our faithfulness with children in the community.(Copy of the letter is on the homepage of our website) Then in December Mr. Van Bramer and his Excecutive Finance Manager Matthew came to tour our school and meet our students and our leadership team and did a walk through to see and hear first hand all we are doing, especially focusing our plans to build four more floors for our High School opening the doors for hundreds of students in his constituency and our community. We are so thankful that Mr. Bramer came to encourage us in our good work with children and that he is interested in the children and families at ECS! Thank you Mr. Van Bramer from all of us at Evangel Christian School!

“You are here, Stay with me”
By Cathy Wang
When I was a little kid, I had a dream.
I love singing, I love music.
When I was a little kid, I thought it was easy.
So I asked dad:”Can I be a singer?” or “Can I be a pianist?”
And dad smiled and said to me:”Yes, you can, honey. ”
After that time, I began to work hard .
When the other kids were playing games,
I was playing the piano.
When they were making fun, I was studying.
Why? Because that’s my dream.
When I grown up, I just knew that it was not easy to make the dream come true.
Many people around me said you cannot do this!
I failed, one time, two times, three times, even more………
I’ve cried, I’ve been depressed, but I never give up!
Because I know, God! You’ve been here with me all the time!
Here! Inside my heart!
Even how alone I am, even how sad I am, even how I failed
You will always be my side; you will always hear my prayer; and you will always give me your strength!!
That’s the dream you gave me!
That’s what my life is gonna be!
Maybe no one will know it, how I spend the nights.
I cannot sleep, I see the stars in the sky, they are so bright and lively, and I begin to pray,
For a new day will be coming.
Anyone will fail;
Anyone will do the wrong thing;
So why can’t I cry?
Why can’t I try after I failed?
Actually I have never been alone, I never lost my ways.
Because what?
Because God you are here, stay with me.
I never saw you, I never touched you.
But——–
I can feel you, you are in the deep of my heart.
You are here, stay with me.
So as usual, today’s night is also cold; and the stars are also shinning in the sky;
I close my eyes and smile.
A tear from eyes drop down across my face, my heart.
Not for sad, it’s for grateful and thankfulness;
For I know, I finally found the reason I can keep my dream.
It’s you, My God! I’ll praise you God!
