The 11th Grade Business Math Class has been practicing with writing checks, deposit slips, register sheets, and reading bank statements. They have been working on a six month simulation project.

Taxes

Our Business Math Class consists of 11th Graders. They have been working on a unit study on reading and filling out 1040EZ tax forms. Within the study they were learning and practicing the importance of earning a living. The purpose of taxes was investigated. Students were engaged with taxes such as: social security, FICA, property tax, medical, etc.

Skills for the future

8th-12 grades are finished with Adobe Illustrator. The quiz is all we have left. Even if they don’t use graphic design in their careers, the students will have a basic know-how that they can build on later.

Let’s spice things up

6th and 7th grades are learning some cool tricks with Powerpoint. We made Powerpoint quizzes and added links and animations to spice them up.

Freerice.com

Elementary School is reviewing computer vocabulary and enjoying some new websites. We started using Freerice.com, which donates 10 grains of rice to charity for every correctly answered vocabulary question.

Pixie

Elementary School is learning how to use Pixie, which many of them already enjoy playing with. I’ll be showing them how to use the tools in Pixie to create great pictures.

8th-12 grade are continuing an in depth unit of study with Adobe Illustrator. The lessons are going wonderfully, and the students love being able to dive in to the program and to do new things.

How fast can you go!

6th and 7th grades are beginning their spring typing unit, trying to increase their typing rate. Some of the 7th graders can already type more than 40 words per minute!
