It’s June already where has the year gone. As I look back over this past year I feel that we have accomplished much in 2nd grade. Besides working on math strategies, becoming fluent readers, discovering about New York City history, sprouting and planting seeds, what stands out most in my mind is how much second grade has matured. They began to reason and concentrate on specific tasks independently. Most of all they began to show each other compassion. They worked hard at helping and supporting each other. We all learned this through bible stories and much prayer that: “I Can Do All Things through Christ Who Strengthens Me” Philippians 4:13

It is said that when he was a missionary in Ireland, St Patrick was challenged by the pagans to explain the concept of the Trinity. As a former slave-shepherd in that same country, he did the unexpected — he reached down and plucked a shamrock leaf. Standing back up, he then asked: “Is this one leaf, or three? If one leaf, then why are there three lobes of equal size? If three leaves, then why is there just one stem? And that, according to the story, is how the shamrock leaf became the symbol of Christian Ireland.

United Nations
The highlight of this past year was then the High School dance elective got invited to the United Nations to minister in dance. Someone saw what the students did for the spring show they wanted them to do it at U. N. What an awesome time and what an experience it was for the students. It was such a blessing for all. They even invited us back to perform again in the fall. Praise the Lord for open doors.

The students danced to One way (hip hop), Mighty To Save with flags, and How We Love with dancers and flags. For the Spring Program we combined MS and HS. They danced to Now Behold The Lamb, Lord Your Holy and Holy Visitation with sign language, flags, and hip hop dance.
