We made it!

The seniors are seniors no longer—they are GRADUATES! What a year it has been! We’ve had lively debates (sometimes too lively) and sober minded discussions. Highlights for me include discussions on the changing interpretations of the U.S. Constitution throughout American history, the role of banking in today’s modern economy, China’s economic rise and its impact on us, as well as my (nearly) foolproof plan to earn a million dollars over the course of my lifetime, which I hope my students will shamelessly steal from me (the plan, that is, not my millions). The graduates of ECHS have a big future ahead of them and I have three final bits of wisdom to bequeath to them: 1) Look to the Lord for comfort and support—He will never fail you; 2) Study hard—education is transformative; and 3) Work hard—be diligent and consistent. Follow these rules and you will go far. God bless and Godspeed.

We finally made it

We’ve reached the end of an unbelievable year! It has been quite the journey to say the least. We have gone through the odyssey of the Civil War, had a new birth in freedom, and experienced the confusion of post-civil war reconstruction. We have been awed by the expansion of American industry in the late 1800s and impressed by the solidarity of the early labor unions. We have seen the rise of American populism in the West and the Tammany Hall style politics in urban centers. We’ve seen the roles of men and women change and how black citizens threw off the chains of Jim Crow. We thrived in the Roaring 20s and survived in the Great Depression. World War I shocked us and World War II appalled us, but it also changed us for the better. Our journey through history had bumps along the road, but through it all, we gained nuggets of knowledge. Now it’s the students turn to forge from knowledge practical wisdom, so they can go out from Evangel Christian High School and witness to the truth.

Summer Time

The temperature is on the rise and the sun is shining bright with summer on the horizon. KV had an action packed month of June. Starting off with the last Literacy Day of the year a special beach theme gathered children from both Kindergarten classes to make it a memorable one. Students made their way to the library with shades on their faces, and flip flops on their feet, as they laid out their towels pretending to be on the beach relaxed as they heard various summer themed stories. KV also celebrated the momentous occasion of graduation. Twenty-Nine Kindergarten students in light blue and pink cap and gowns crooned out a heartfelt song Yes I can and also recited fourteen Bible verses learned throughout the year in front of an audience of love ones. As they smiled and shook the hands of each of their teachers, and received their diplomas they welcome the 1ST Grade! Congratulations Have A Blessed Summer!

Easter

KV kicked off spring, in celebration of the sacrifice and resurrection of our Savior, with an Easter Eggtravaganza. The students received empty eggs symbolizing the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the tomb creating a route to discuss why we celebrate Easter and the true meaning. One of the memory verses the children learn for the year John 3:16 was recited to remind them of the importance of a Savior.

Friendship Letters

KV displayed Jesus’ abundant love for each one of us by sharing special friendship letters with those closest to us. These letters were filled with glitter, lovely colors of pink and red but most of all lots of love. We topped our gifts of love off with our unique creation of heart shaped cats equip with all the essentials and topped off with several small hearts making a unique tail. KV also showcased our acting skills this month in a short skit in Chapel displaying how special we are to Jesus even when we feel as though we have nothing to offer God does and HE LOVES US!

International Week

Jalapeno Bagels was a story about a boy who needed to bring a treat from his culture to school for international week. What a fun story that was for the 3rd graders. We all talked about our families and the foods we eat for the holidays.
